Additional Litter

Saturday, July 31

Here I am, late as always but with a week to process every impression of Mysterium for the time I was there. Because I was fighting a relapse, I knew I had to limit myself so I chose Saturday for the Ubisoft presentation and particularly for the fan presentations. After a 3 hr drive and checking in at another hotel (no room at the inn due to a last minute decision), I arrived in a full lobby at the break. I was tackled by sweet Katie, all strawberries, love and tears and memiki whose beautiful smile could light the entire lobby. Ma belle Kass was next, exactly the Kass I knew in the hood and then Lie’Ra who drove all the way from Texas and was such a treat to meet, so kind and funny. But this was just the beginning.

I turned and advancing on me with arms out and a huge, shining smile was Wolfie. By now you realize there were some tears (it was that kind of day) and when Wolfie hugs, you know you’ve been hugged! We were creating a block at the door (along with all the bags of Granny’s cookies which she had gift bagged, labelled and was handing out) so we had to move into the already hot and overcrowded room for the next part of the Ubi presentation. I was again engulfed in a huge hug – it was Neema (and those dimples are killer!) then RR_Caz who is even more fun in RL. The cutest little person with the most enormous smile came over and grabbed me – Ayli, after all this time. I am still amazed at how much generosity and energy can be contained in such a tiny package. I was plunked in a chair and looked to see Devonette smiling across at me – exactly the ‘ette I knew from Uru, calm and welcoming. Then through the door, Christoph, MrM3Fan and Devon, no mistaking him! Somewhere there will be a picture of all of the Greeters there at that point: me in a red shirt (no name tags left and who would know me without it?) with all the rest in white. I looked around the room and saw Dan’ni, all the way from Poland, Blue Max, my old partner on duty in the hood, Dusante, Daedalus, Myredean, so many others and those who could not attend were spoken of often so they were there in spirit. This was like a family reunion!

I won’t do the details of the program as they have been more than well covered by the other bloggers but I will say that getting my shirt from Ayli (it had been delivered to memiki who brought it with her – long story) and being at the door with my fellow Greeters for the fan presentations was so much fun. Ending it with a late supper and much laughter at the hotel bar was bittersweet: I was fairly sure that goodnight would be goodbye for me and I didn’t want to leave these people.

For me, that evening encapsulated the total Uru experience as I looked around the room at the audience reactions, the line of Greeters, watched Wolf weave his magic and saw the smiles and the tears. Something very special happened in there that brought back the feeling of community we had in Uru and truly glued this family together and as I write this I am more certain than ever that the end has not yet been written because the dreamers are still waiting patiently together here.

Oh cat, so glad you made it. If you hadn't I told my bunch we were going to drive up to meet you. But so glad you made it. Hated to go to bed that night, never wanted it to end, but I was running low and know you were. Was hoping you weren't over doing yourself. But had to give you that final hug for sure.
It was so great to meet my beloved Cat'ja.

Granny hugs to you.

Oh great. Now I'm crying. Nothing like a mucus breakfast to wake you up.

Hi Catchya! I so wish I had the opportunity to go, especially to meet you. I can imagine you were all smiling so much that your jaws hurt. To actually meet the people you were with in the Hood. To actually know the strangers so well when you 1st meet them in real life. That seems so bizarre. And fun.

Did you dance for everyone? hug
