Home

Well we got home last night. had to do some shopping before we headed on our 3 hr drive home.
Train was uneventful. think I caught up on my sleep inbetween falling out of the seat. found a good way to sleep as long as the leg rest doesnt fall down. so don't touch the little knob. Ken and Wolfgang willl understand.

I have pictures but everyone elses look so good. Don't think mine will be necessary.

Love seeing the pictures.

I am now trying to get caught up and getting stuff ready to send to JD and L'lee.

not sure where the dirty clothes or the bills came from smile

Hope to see more of you all next year. It was a great time. Even my husband was not to grumpy, tho the picture Rand took doesn't say that, and he enjoyed his nap up in the room where the videos were. smile

More Photos Posted

Just posted some more photos to the Blog. My notes, what few there are, are still in route, via the USPS. Since my little brain cannot remember everyones name from Presentation Night, I have not indicated them... If you can assist me, please PM me at the forum so that I can update the photos. Also, the band who played had a web site where we could download the song they played. (Very good, I might add) If you can assist with the bands name and web site address, I'll update the photos with that info, too!

Thanks! smile

Golden View from Home

Shorah,

Nonie and I made it safely home. No airport or flight delays. Arrived home @ 12:30 PM. Beth met us at the airport (thanks Beth).

We got up and packed this morning, then stopped by Cyan with some donuts for the crew. Then we drove around some of the local mountains, Green Bluff and Mt. Spokane. Then it was off to the airport. All of our luggage made it fine, as did all of our signed items.

This was a really tremendous experience and I am sad that it is over. I am also sad that not everyone that wanted to make it to MYSTerium was able to make it. I hope that the posting here and other places has helped ease your pain.

I will go through my pictures tomorrow and post what I think might be interesting.

Home Again

My mind is still in shock over this past weekend... need to collect my thoughts, but I'm home safely. Pretty uneventful train ride too. But not everything can be as exciting as Mysterium smile.

Back At Work

*SIGH* I'm back at work and can't stop thinking about the weekend. Just tried to call Golden Wedge at the hotel but he must have slipped out a little early. He mentioned how quiet and lonely the hotel seemed with most of us cleared out. It reminded me, yesterday, of what it felt like to go from Prologue, back to the single player version of Uru. Very lonely, with only a little cone to keep me company!

Speaking of cones, I just ordered the key chain cones for Cyan, that I promised Rand I'd send! I let RAWA know that they were coming, too, just in case! I'm glad that they were a big hit with the Mysterium crowd. Who would have guessed 100 would not have been enough!!

Shorah,

Getting ready to head back home this morning. We tried a day trip to Montana yesterday. Not even enough time to really get over there, but we had fun. Found an interesting rock formation and have posted a picture for your viewing pleasure.

The hotel is very empty, and their are no big groups yacking it up in the lobby. sad This has been a very exciting and interesting adventure. I am glad that MYSTerium happened to land at Spokane at this particular juncture. This are going to get really exciting in the very near future.

It was great to see all of you that were able to make it. I think we are a fine bunch and I am glad to be part of this group of people.

We leave about 11:30 to head to the airport and arrive in Orlando at 11:30 tonight, a whole "day" of flying, oh boy.

I will post again when we make it safely home.

Arrived Home Safely

Devon and I made it back home in one piece at about 7pm this evening. It's good to be home, but we already miss all our friends, old and new, that we were with at Mysterium. Adnil & Memiki picked us and Ayli up from the hotel at 4:30am this morning (many, many thanks to them for all they did for us and others this weekend!) and delivered us safely to the airport. Big hugs!!!! Ayli was on a different flight from us, so we parted once we got inside the airport, however, we did share our first of two connecting flights with Ran and AnnD, who were 4 rows behind us on the plane. We also spotted Scraper and a few other people at the airport -- I guess all of us had early flights!

I also want to throw in a big thanks to Roland who, besides picking us up from the airport on Thursday, was the wheel man of our prize winning team in the Photo Scavenger Hunt! Team Surface Quest rocks!

As I sit here unpacking and trying to sort through various things we brought home with us from Mysterium, besides going over lots of memories also brought home, I am getting a little bit sad, but not too sad, since I know we'll "see" most of them in cavern, and if all goes well, will see many again next year!

Devon still has to sort through the zillions of photos he took at Mysterium and decide which ones to post, but stay tuned, over the next few days he'll get them up here!

Meanwhile, it's been a long day (a long weekend with very little sleep, for that matter) so I think I'll call it a night! As I think of more things that happened at Mysterium, I'll post them over the next few days.

Goodnight and Shorah!

Back Into The Frying Pan...

Sadly, I am back home. The heat is on here. Over 100 when I arrived in St Louis. Made the hour + drive back home and got the vehicle unpacked.

Actually got some breakfast, this morning, Adnil & Memiki were arriving at 6:45 to pickup Wolfie and I. The depression, that was going to be the theme of the day, started when I walked into the breakfast room at the hotel. Just a few people, not the mass of Mysterium folks that had brought the room alive the past few days. I got something to eat, but didn't feel quite as hungry as I thought. Got checked out and waited out front of the hotel for Adnil & Memiki. Supergram was there too and we said goodbye, as her cab pulled up.

Back home

I feel down sad I have a withdrawal sad

I made it home safely, although not without problems. I see the trend developing for Mysterium. It is the second year in the row, that there are some delays on the way home. Although not as severe as it was traveling from Chicago, nevertheless, I was late 2 hours getting to home airport.

I just want to say thanks to Adnil who drove us at such an early hour to the airport hug and Memi to accompany her, although she didn't have to.

Now, I'll have to sort through thousands of pictures taken during Mysterium and post some interesting ones.

To all whom I got in contact at Mysterium: "Thanks for coming, it was a great experience to get to know the real face instead of virtual avvie. To those who couldn't make it this year, I hope you'll be able to come next one. Start saving right now smile Thanks for reading our blog.....

.... to be continued....

Second group on the way

Back again. Got the second group to airport.

Ak is already in the air on way to Arizona. Next is Rex and Wolfie who are sitting patiently at the airport for their flights.

It was sad to see them go. We are next. have to pack yet and go get goodies to eat on the train home. We will arrive about 5:00 am on Wed and then I can post more pictures.

It is 6 am and we are on the computer waiting to take next group to airport.

Adnil/Linda is doing a great job as a shuttle service.

We have dropped off Deven, Devonette and Ayli so far, picked them up at 4:30 am. It was sad to see them go, it was great to see them again.

well time to wake everyone up here.

Sunday July 30

Well here it is Sunday. We got up at 5 am to start our shuttle service. We made three trips to airport, one trip to bus depot and one trip to train depot. So basically most our day was running back and forth. Seemed we just got home and had a cup of coffee and it was time for the next trip.
We all did manage to go to IHop for breakfast before we made the third run to airport. Then got home, started to go through suitcases and it was time for trip to bus. Got home fixed some supper for all of us and got on computer and then it was time for the train run.
Sad to see everyone leave. Hope all my babies get home safely. Know the airplane people are home. now have to wait for Cycreim to get safely home, bus to Portland and plane to Toronto. Also Ken and Wolfgang leave in about 2 1/2 hrs if Amtrak is on time. They had better drop me an email like I told them to.. smile
Hope everyone gets home safely

Well time to hit the bed, we have to get up at 3:30 am to start the airport runs again.

INCREDIBLE!!!

Now I have a much better understanding why these games are so wonderful. Wow, what nice people. Rand is a very warm and gracious person. If you brougth it he would sign it, want a picture with him standing on his head.. sure, bare his soul.. sure, reveal some new information or secrects about the game.. never. I brought my journey cloth and Nonie taped it up at the entrance of the Cyan building. I asked Rand, "Would you please come out front for a picture?" "Sure, let's go." Then he stood there as the hungry masses filled hundreds of megabytes of digital memory with images of Rand starting a new journey.

Others have posted about the events, so I just write about my impressions. I was suprised by the total lack of formality. These people seem to function more like a family than a business. I'm sure they can get down to business when necessary, but there is mutual respect and understanding that you can almost feel.

It was obvious that we (they) are not out of the woods yet, but we get to take the next step. Several people mentioned that a strong increase in the number of people signing up for GameTap under the URU Live site is VERY important. So if you think you might EVER sign up for GameTap... now is the time.

I sat and talked with several other people, Mark DeForest, Tony, Ron Meiners, RAWA, and Grey Dragon, and they were all very interested in what we liked and wanted. And they were all very appreciative of us fans.

Presentations were MUCH better organized this year. Thanks Ran!!! The room was too small, but I hope that no matter where we go, or how much bigger we make the room, I hope it always too small.

I have to run off to breakfast, more later.

A day after

There probably couldn't be a better day, weather wise, to happened for the trip to Cyan. It was a very compfortable, sunny day.

After our breakfast, Mysteriumites were ushered into their cars and we drove to the Cyan headquarters, which were not advertised on the road. We were given some hints (even here we had to solve puzzles smile ) on where to turn into the driveway.

At the entrance we were given a special number coded card and all huddle up to wait for the beginning of the tour. At around 8 o'clock, Rand showed up with RAWA and other employees of Cyan. Rand captivated the audience right away (as I'm sure we all were waiting and dreaming for this moment). He thanked all the fans for coming and continued support and gave us a list of rules to follow while inside their offices and also told us not to loose those special cards we were given up front, as that would be very bad for us smile

What an incredible day!

Wow! As some have already posted, we had an incredible day at Cyan today. Everyone there, was super and very welcoming! We also had a pleasant surprise. Team "Surface Quest" made up of Ayli, devon, devonette, Ja'de, Rex Havoc and Roland, won the Photo Scavenger Hunt! We won a 3 months free coupon for GameTap. We were the only team that actually found each location (25 spots).

There will be more tomorrow, posted here, but we are all worn out for the night!!

Evening 29 July

well, it is now 11 pm. We just got home to Adnil's house from eating supper. Don't think we have eaten earlier than 9 pm since thurs.

The Fan presentations were great. As usual they all did a great job. Got some pictures but was so interested in everything I kept forgetting to take any pictures.

River did an outstanding job once again on the journals. GW and Rex did the marker demo good as usual. Oh what can I say it was all great.

I will let some one else talk about it cause I just have no words to express it.

will have to wait until I get home to down load any more pictures as my friend who had a card reader on his leaves at 3 am.

An Amazing Day at Cyan!

What can I say? Hard to describe the feeling of actually being at Cyan and meeting some of the people responsible for having drawn us into the wonderful worlds of Myst. It was kind of surreal, in a way. The building and landscaping were true works of art in themselves, but of course the people inside were even more fascinating! Rand came out to greet us at 9am with a nice long welcoming speech, and then we were set loose in the building, where we visited different "stations" half hour time slots. Rand manned the "artifact" station, RAWA was in charge of the video station, Tim Larkin was the host of the music station, plus we had two different artwork stations and the extremely popular "souvenir shop". We were able to meet and talk with everyone (including family members) except the QA people who were chained to their desks working on a Saturday. Cyan provided us with a great lunch of hot dogs, chips, soda, cake and cookies, then Rand and Trent (GameTap) did a Q & A session that was very informative, using the new catch phrase "in the future" quite often. Oh, and for those who have been following the photo scavenger hunt saga, our team won!!!

(Insert catchy title here)

I tried to think for 20 mintues on how to sum up today in a single title and still haven't thought of one. It was just that kind of amazing day, the day you dream about but think will never come true. We stood outside of Cyan and I was in awe. When we went inside it was everything I could have hoped for and more.

Of course, I got stuck on "Ayli Camera Duty". I have no idea how that happened, presumably I should ask Ayli... but anyway, seeing all these people in person was ethereal. I GOT TO SHAKE RAND MILLER'S HAND (yes, the wide-eyed little boy with the lollipop that resides in all of us just got out). It is amazing, how else can I describe it? Oh yes, costly... every time I bought something I swore it would be the last thing I bought.. HAHAHA. A book, a shirt, 5 posters later... yeah, I'm a compulsive spender. But it was well worth it.

I've been taken good notes on everything I've heard this weekend. Rest assured, it's all getting put into the next The Cavern Today podcast, so for the full scoop, just keep your eyes peeled for the VERY soon release of a post-Mysterium podcast. So much to tell, can't wait to get home!

July 29 THE DAY

Today was THE DAY. Adnil and I started about 8:30 am, we ran two groups to Cyan.

Wish all of you could of been there. It was awesome. To meet everyone there and see it in person.

How do I describe it. ummmmmmmm I have no words to express it. I have pics and will be downloading.

We had a tour and then lunch and a Q and A session.

As I said I can't find any words to express the day. So will leave it to someone who is much better at writing than me.

In 2 hours will be the fan presentations at the motel.

Point - Counter Point

I have to take exception to devonettes post! What she fails to mention is that we gave her the most special seat in the vehicle, the first class cabin! She had the most room, the water AND the food (cup cakes!)! Talk about vistas!! She had a 460 degree view of the lovely scenery around us! Don't let her con you into thinking she was second class baggage! We fought over who would get to set back there! She pulled the short straw, errr, she had the seat of honor.

Posted by RexHavoc at 11:07 AM | Comments (0)

They shoved me in the trunk of a car for the day!!!

Okay, so it was the back shelf of an SUV, and I volunteered (probably the roomiest seat in the vehicle) but that didn't sound nearly as exciting for a title. Roland, Ayli, Rex, Ja'de, devon and I formed a team for Friday's photo scavenger hunt, and using brains, Google, and all the teamwork skills we learned in Uru, we headed out in search of those photo "markers". It really was a treat working with our team, and between time spent researching and time spent on the road finding and photographing the "markers", I'd say we spent a good 9 hours solid on the project, not counting lunch and the after quest pizza party! The tough part was getting the photos printed out before Target or Kinko's closed, since we have to have the photos to Cyan this morning first thing. But, we did it, thanks to a fantastic job done by the entire team! We'll keep you posted on whether or not we win the competion. There were other great teams out there, so it could be close!

Busy Day

At least today, Friday, the 28th, was only in the 90's!! The major project of the day was the photo scavenger hunt. Twenty-five items to find around the area. Once found, they needed to be photographed as close to the example as possible. We had a lot of fun locating the items, scientifically, then planning our route and finding the actual items and objects. Our completed package of photos needs to be on the counter at Cyan at 9 in the morning on Saturday. Hope we win!! Ayli, Roland, Devon, Devonette, Ja'de and Rex Havoc took part as a team to complete the task. Stay tuned for the results!!

Friday July 28

Friday got here. and we went and picked up Wolfie, and Knit, In addition we also picked up 2 cars full of others. We then headed for Silverwood. A water park and amusement park in Idaho. We had a blast. Rode roller coasters, water rides. Adnil, Sarah and I took a ride down the Lazy River on a inter tube. Not sure if I remember all the names but will give it a try and you all let me know who I left out. River, Marten, Cycieum, who I know I just misspelled it terribly, Sam is real name and he is also the one we picked up at the bus depot on Thurs who I forgot to list only because I am old and senile. Sorry Sam. Also with us for the day was Saphira, Thend, DannyR, Eleri and I forgot the others. Let me know smile and I will add you. We are now relaxing and then going to go eat. Looking forward to tomorrow. The exciting day.

Another Day Down

Well, Friday is coming to a close, all that's left is dinner and the Heek tournament. We got to see the cards and prizes for the Heek tournament and Eleri needs to be given a medal for her work, it's absolutely stunning!

I've been meeting up with more Greeters and more CCN people. It's great to be able to finally put faces with the names and the voices. AllMyst even saw Rand Miller and his family in the Applebee's across the street. There's an absolutely BEATUTIFUL display of Budgiemom's quilts, well done again Budgie!

Tomorrow is the really big day! I will have so much to add when we get to Cyan tomorrow, I may even make use of the extended entry function of the blog. Will catch up to everyone tomorrow! See you soon!

Well, Nonie and I made it from Orlando, Florida. Makes for a long day. Got here too early to check in, so we did some Twinkie shopping. Waiting on Rex and gang to go have dinner. They are out on the scavenger hunt and are having loads of fun. We have run into lots of folks we know, and some we don't. Weldergeek has a radio controlled cone running around the lobby. The other hotel guests are having second thoughts about their choice of hotel.
Budgie's quilts are set up down stairs in the meeting room. Her artwork is just incredible in person.

Ok, off to dinner, more action it happens....

Breakfast done, a new day starts

Well, time to get some photos ready and post... The breakfast room was full of Mysterium people, I feel sorry for anyone else staying in the hotel!! They are probably thinking they are in the middle of one those 'star trek' conventions or something! No, you aren't, this is MUCH better!! OK, enough procrastinating, off to get some photos prepped and posted!

I've met Rex, Ette and Devon, and Roland in the airport. It was an exciting reunion, except I've met Roland for the first time. Thanks for his taxi service, Roland smile We all were on the way to hotel, only to be contacted by Adnil, were we met another group in the restaurant for the lunch/dinner smile There we met memi with her husband, Wolfie, Adnil and Sarah and a few others. Thanks Adnil for the dinner smile

Wow! What a day!!

What a busy day! Got in around 9:30, as planned. Got a little concerned when we were approaching Denver, where I was to change planes, they announced that the airport was closed due to weather... With only 45 minutes to make my connection, I got a bit nervous. The airport opened and we got in, in time. Hooked up with Memiki, Adnil and Wolfie. Going out to the car, we came across Roland, in his Greeter shirt, in the parking lot! I put on my DRC Hard Hat and stuck around with Roland, waiting for Devon, Devonette and Ayli to arrive then all hooked up at the Sawtooth grill for a lunch with Memiki and the rest of the gang.

Since I didn't have my mouse with me we 'needed' to go across the street from the hotel to find one. Enter Ja'de, who was hungry! (We HAD to get the mouse!!! The touch pad is not a good way to move on the forum!!) ANYWAY (yawn... sorry...) Later in the evening we hooked up with others and had an impromptu meeting, then went across the street, again, for ice cream! Can you tell I'm fading?! ZZZZzzzz I'll post photos in the morning!

Thursday Jul 27

Well, we made it out to pick up Wolfie and Rex. It was so good to see them. On the way to the car we saw Roland. He said he was out there to pick up anyone who needed picking up. We mentioned we were coming back at noon to pick up Devon and Devonette. Rex said Ayli was coming at 1:00 so Roland said he would pick up the Devon's and then Ayli and Rex said he would stay with Roland for the pickups.
So we took Wolfie back to Adnil/Linda's house. and then we went to downtown Spokane and then called Roland and had them all meet up with us at the Sawtooth Grill and the 12 of us all ate until we were stuffed. Then the other group went to the hotel and the 7 of us went to take pictures of the clock tower at the River Front Park.
Then we took Wolfie to the hotel and went back to Linda's house. We kept calling Knitcucumber/Julie to keep bugging her on her way to hotel. She made it to the hotel around 7:30 and got registered. We went to motel and picked up Knit and Wolfie to bring them back to house for supper (guess I forgot to tell you who We are. Me, my husband, Linda/Adnil, AkJohn, Sarah/Zennie (someone new who we got into UU when Damala became activated) and her husband David.) While picking up Wolfie and Knit, we saw many people at the conference room in the hotel. We also saw Ryan (Gray Dragon) while there.

We are all exhausted and ready for bed

We are here in Spokane!

We arrived at the Spokane Airport at around 12:30pm, and after a little confusion we met up with Rex and Roland by the baggage claim area, and then waited for Ayli to arrive not long after. Then Roland taxied us to a restaurant in Spokane where we joined Adnil, Memiki, Wolfie and a number of other people for a late lunch (or dinner going by our East Coast body clocks!). After stuffing ourselves, we headed to the hotel to check in, and after visiting with many people in the lobby and their rooms, we headed off to Best Buy and a few other stores with Rex and Ayli to find a mouse for Rex's laptop. It's now 7pm, and we are resting in the nice air conditioned room, and shortly will be headed downstairs to see if anything is planned for this evening. I saw Eddie floating in the pool earlier, so maybe we'll go down and enjoy the water with him! devon took a few photos, which he'll try to post later. Can't wait to see who arrives tomorrow!

bye for now,
devonette

Finaly made it.

Have traveling most of the day, I finally arrive abd then could not access the web, none of the phone numbers I downloaded were in the phone and Ayli and Rex were out shopping. Got the laptop connected after threatning it and called Ayli after retreiving her number. I caught up with them and alot of others after. I think this is gonna be fun,

Take a Walk

Cousin and I went for a little walk yesterday. If you have dental problems or need emergency dialisis, be thankful they chose this hotel, heh. There are lots and lots of offices around the area, but that's not the most important thing in the area. Those are listed below (list expanding when we go outside again):

-Subway
-Red Robin
-Pizza Hut
-Applebee's
-STONER ICE CREAM (or "Cold Stone Creamery" to most of you)
-Azteca Mexican Restaurant (right next to...)
-Taco Bell (which is across the street from...l)
-El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant
-Panda Express
-Gamespot
-Best Buy
-Walmart
-Target
-Border's
-Staples
-Linens & Things
-Blockbuster
-Hollywod Video
-Wendy's
-McDonald's
-KFC
-Long John Silver's
-Rancho Chico
-OCB
-Baskin Robbin's
-Jack in the Box
-Wonderland (a nice little mini-golf place)

Yep, lots of stuff for us to spend money on. We walked for quite a while, and our feet hurt quite a bit. Turns out the hotel is on the north side of Spokane, and without knowing it we walked right out of the city into one of the suburbs (Spokane has suburbs... must remember this). So, NEXT time, we may have to try walking south to see what we can find. We walked out a bit north, and there's nothing really west of where we are, so south is the next place we have to explore.

Welcome to Spokane/Spo-can

Just how do you pronounce that thing anyway? Silly north-westerners :P

Well, as Memiki said, we made it alright. After 37 hours on a train, you learn a few things:

1) Wisconsin and Minnesota are the same state, and very pleasant to watch fly by your window.

2) North Dakota, Montana, and Idaho are also the same state, but even with a fiddler, guitar-er, and singer on the train, it is still the most boring state in the Union.

3) Lamb is classified as "other meat".

4) The Lounge is best experienced at 5:45 am, just before the sunrise, when the only other people in there are the woman cleaning off the tables and a crazy old guy with a stick.

5) Sleeper cars are for those who wish to be pampered. Seriously, what's up with that?

6) Red wine in a wine glass in a dining car that travels with an unpredictable list: recipe for a disaster and change of clothes.

But, we made it! And, Memiki has surprises for all of us (woot!), so everyone be nice to her. Eagerly awaiting everyone else's arrival, and the events that start on Friday! But now we must go, there's a Stoner Ice Cream we can see from our hotel window, and who can pass up a good Cold Stone Creamery, right?

Stage One - Complete

Well, I've made it as far as St Louis. Staying in a hotel, near the airport tonight. Heading over to the airport at 4AM! I already thought of one thing I was going to do, and didn't! Install Norton Anti Virus on this computer! Well, if that is the worst thing I forgot, I should be in good shape!

A Grannie Cookie sure would hit the spot, right now!!

I am here in Spokane

We have arrived. My husband and I are here in Spokane. We met Ken and Max on the train. Adnil picked us up at the train depot and we delivered Ken and Max to the hotel. We are now at Adnil's house It is now 4 am. So think I will go to bed. It is so exciting to be here. There are two other URU's here. But can't remember their URU names, must mean it is time for bed. The brain has now ceased working.

Ready to go!

Well, the train carrying Wolfgang and I to Mysterium leaves tomorrow, I'm so excited! Got my Greeter shirt all ready, but it seems that my CCN shirt won't arrive until Tuesday. Drat. Oh well, I'll have it for next time I guess. Can't wait to see all the people again, and spending time AT Cyan Worlds is going to make my days. Will update when I can, see you later!

My Mysterium T-Shirt has arrived, now I'm ready!

Yay! The UPS guy just delivered our Mysterium 2006 T shirts, so now all that's needed is to pack and then we'll be ready to go! Unfortunately, we don't "go" until next Thursday morning, sigh. Can't wait to see old friends and meet new ones!

Going on a road trip

Starting to get a bit nervous. I made my reservations months ago. Should I call and verify? What if I get there and they don't have a room for me? Laptop isn't set up yet either. I need to be sure I have the correct links set up for easier access. Clothes? What should I bring? Can you tell this is a first for me?

You can feel it...

All through the forums, there is a rumbling... Planning is underway for an up coming trip to the city of Spokane. The sound of suitcases being dragged out of storage echoes off the cavern walls. They are coming. The preparations have been started in all corners of the Myst universe. Be ready to meet, greet, have fun and be amazed!!
